Review: Go Your Own Way

A must see for every Fleetwood Mac fan!

Go Your Own Way masterfully brings Fleetwood Mac to life on stage, capturing audiences night after night. Every band member’s unique passion and drive in each performance offers an unforgettable tribute to an iconic band.

It can be considered that a venue of 400 capacity is a more intimate viewing of the tribute show, in comparison to the Aldephi theatre in London’s West End, one of the places they regularly performed. In just over two hours, ‘Go Your Own Way’ took their audience through an incredible story about the life of Fleetwood Mac with their hit songs from the award-winning album ‘Rumours’ as well as ‘Tango in the Night’, ‘Mirage’, and ‘Tusk’.

The tribute started with ‘The Chain’ and certainly got the audience clapping to the rhythm, which was reciprocated by humming to the bassline of the track. Sheena Beckett, who plays Stevie Nicks then introduced the show to the audience, explaining that the first half focuses on the famous 1997 concert, ‘Fleetwood Mac: The Dance’. In conversation with Beckett, she said, “audiences can expect a very detailed and theatrical show. It’s important to me to convey the soul of Fleetwood Mac. We update the show every two years to keep it fresh and share the love of their music.”

In the first act of the show, the band sang ‘Rhiannon’, ‘Dreams’, ‘Sara’, ‘You Make Loving Fun’, ‘I Don’t Wanna Know’, and many more. A highlight was the recreation of the famous ‘Silver Springs’ moment between Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. The first half was closed by Amy Owen’s rendition of ‘Songbird,’ a poignant homage to the late Christine McVie, who sadly passed in 2022.

The second act paid tribute to the ‘Tusk Tour’ (1979) and the ‘Mirage Tour’ (1982), where they opened with ‘Sisters of the Moon’, a strong and hard-hitting song that demonstrated the band members’ great vocal ability. We were then introduced to the medley of ‘Seven Wonders’, ‘Little Lies’, ‘Everywhere’, and ‘Big Love’, which got the crowd up on their feet and singing along. As things concluded, they sang their namesake song, ‘Go Your Own Way’ mixed with the hit ‘Tusk’, the venue witnessed each other’s exhilaration and enjoyment in the final moments.

The main takeaway from that evening is that ‘Go Your Own Way’ is a crafted tribute show that any Fleetwood Mac fan would enjoy; all band members are extremely talented and dedicated to their act. Catch this show while you can, you’ll learn fun facts about Fleetwood Mac, which gives you greater insight into one of the biggest bands of all time, while enjoying their music for the night!
